Need A Solo Black Widow Movie

scarlett johansson black widow

When previously asked about the lack of female superhero movies, Marvel chief Kevin Feige has remained diplomatic, yet non-committal. During the press tour for ‘Thor 2,’ Feige’s comments were “I’m not sure when that will be” and “we’ll see what happens.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement for a female-led Marvel movie. Apparently, things have changed over the past few months and now Feige, when asked specifically about Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow, said that they are actively developing her own solo movie.

Feige was speaking to Total Film about ‘Captain America 2‘ and how that film gives us Black Widow’s biggest role yet and how the upcoming ‘Avengers 2‘ will give us details about her past. He then added:

We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.

Progress!

Feige didn’t exactly make a big splashy announcement about a future film, but it’s good to hear that it’s something they want to do. The Black Widow character is almost perfect for a ‘Bourne Identity’ style spinoff and an easy transition to the first female-driven Marvel movie. Hopefully the success of that movie would open up even more doors for characters like Ms. Marvel and, even in the DC universe, Wonder Woman herself.

Considering the Phase 3 movies are all but set, we don’t see a Black Widow movie happening in the immediate future, but if Marvel really is looking at releasing four movies a year (one per quarter), they’re going to need to start thinking outside of the “Phase 3″ box and scheduling some spinoffs.

Anna Torv

Title: On the Set: Fringe's Final Hours

It's the end of the worlds as we know it. And all Fringe Division wants is soup.

"I swear I saw someone walking around with it!" says Jasika Nicole, bubbly and bundled up between takes while filming on a Vancouver lot. With a week left before wrapping Fringe's fifth and final season, the mood on this drizzly December afternoon is unexpectedly light. Especially for folks facing a string of long night shoots involving the ultimate battle between our heroes and their bald overlords, the Observers. "It's going to be big," says Anna Torv, whose Olivia Dunham is already bearing the bumps and bruises of the previous episode's action. "I'll be impressed if we can shoot it in the time allotted."

Jane Russell with a bow

In 1940, Russell was signed to a seven-year contract by film mogul Howard Hughes[7] and made her motion picture debut in The Outlaw (1943), a story about Billy the Kid that went to great lengths to showcase her voluptuous figure. Although the movie was completed in 1941, it was not released until 1943, and then in a limited release. It was finally released to a wide distribution in 1946. There were problems with the censorship of the production code over the way her ample cleavage was displayed. When the movie was finally passed, it had a general release in 1946. During that time, she was kept busy doing publicity and became known nationally.[8] Contrary to countless incorrect reports in the media since the release of The Outlaw, Russell did not wear the specially designedunderwire bra that Howard Hughes had designed and made for her to wear during filming. According to Jane's 1988 autobiography, she said the bra was so uncomfortable that she secretly discarded it and wore her own bra with the cups padded with tissue and the straps pulled up to elevate her breasts.

Kabul attack on female actors leaves survivors facing more 'punishment'

Even after the taunts and threats for appearing on TV, and whispered criticism of "immodest" outfits, the attack on actor sisters Areza and Tamana, and their friend Benafsha, came as a surprise.

The trio were minutes from moving out of a neighbourhood in which conservative locals had made them feel unwelcome, walking to meet a minivan full of their possessions, when six men surrounded them in a lane, lined with high-walled compounds. They left Benafsha bleeding to death outside a mosque with stab wounds, and the injured sisters desperately seeking help.

"I didn't see the TV programme, I just heard the local boys saying that one of them played a role with boys," said Yaqin Ali Khalili, owner of a shop that the women frequented. "The hatred of the people here is the reason she was killed, I am 100% sure," he added.

Word travels fast in Kabul, and in a couple of days other actresses were being intimidated. One prominent young actress, Sahar Parniyan, received death threats and has gone into hiding. On the rare occasions she still ventures out she has to wear the burqas she used to despise. "The threats were in calls at midnight, or 2am when I was deep asleep, using very bad words and repeating 'you will be next for assassination'," Parniyan told the Guardian in an interview at a secret location. "I cannot continue my life as an actress in Afghanistan, although I love my job. The Taliban are against women, but so are other groups … Afghanistan is not made for women, whether actresses or not."

Eye Color and the Perception of Beauty

About a year ago I came accross a striking image of Zoe Deschanel. What struck me most was the color of her eyes and how they seemed to disproportionally influence my perception of her beauty. Being a brown eyed person it made me wonder: How much does eye color really influence the perception of beauty? With that in mind I did a couple of manipulations, one of Zoe and the other of Meghan Fox. I posted this original image to Reddit and within hours it made it to the front page. The comments were fascinating and triggered many strong reactions.
